About this Course





This online course is the first of its kind that takes a holistic approach to designing the team experience in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). Develop the strategies to design the team experience in health economics and outcomes research.

This short course will help you acquire the skills to build effective teams, expand your outlook through exposure to diverse perspectives, and refine your processes when conducting or evaluating health economics and outcome research literature. It provides the framework and tools to design the team experience. A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the course after completing a final reflection.

What You Will Learn

This professional course provides the framework and tools to design the team experience. The course encompasses five modules and focuses on the personnel needed to perform and evaluate health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). It features information on how to build a team, whom you should consider working or partnering with and why, and what skills you need to perform and evaluate such analyses in the literature.

This course is designed for diverse learners, stakeholders, and decision-makers who review the literature and/or perform analyses in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and are looking to broaden their scope and skills to design the team experience better. Participants include healthcare and public health professionals, policy-makers and governing entities, industry professionals, and individuals engaged in health services, health economics, and outcomes research. Designing the team experience is a skill that applies to all individual roles. No prior in-depth knowledge or expertise in this field is needed. How You Will Learn

The short course is delivered completely online. You will receive four hours of self-guided, on-demand videos. All videos are recorded and no "live" videos or events will take place during the course. You will spend time outside the live sessions reflecting on what you're learning in the course and how this contributes to your knowledge base, recommendations, and vision. Throughout the course, you will complete a number of milestones along with the content. The milestones help you reflect on your learnings in each module as you progress through the course. You will be asked to complete a Final Reflection to receive the certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Meet the Faculty

Dr. Rola Kaakeh, CEO of Salus Vitae Group, is a fellowship-trained, licensed pharmacist with over sixteen years of experience in various settings (pharmacy practice, managed care, health systems, administration, public health and higher education). She is the author of “The Art of Pharmacoeconomics: A Guide to Getting Started. She is adjunct faculty at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is also affiliate faculty at the Institute for Global Health and Institute for Public Health and Medicine. She advises organizations globally on health system development, and has engaged with various institutions within the public and private sectors, non-governmental agencies such as the UN, universities, startups, and professional associations. Her areas of focus include national policies and institution-specific initiatives that address healthcare topics covering access, delivery, and outcomes. Dr. Kaakeh has served as a faculty member in multiple public and private universities and has taught several courses. She has presented on numerous global, impactful stages to address the most pressing issues of our time – including her recent TEDx on “The Struggle to Access to Medications.” Dr. Kaakeh started university at the age of 10 as a gifted child, holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy with a minor in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Health Services Research from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, College of Pharmacy, and the School of Medicine. In addition, she holds several healthcare licenses and certifications. She has received a number of awards and is actively engaged with the community and the profession on a local, national and international level in several capacities to numerous professional and nonprofit organizations.
